Rose Parade® News:

Hotel Assignments for Students

Students will sign up for hotel rooms following Post Camp Tuesday, 8/12 & Wednesday, 8/13 on room assignment sign up sheets posted in the band room. All student rooms will be 4 person rooms.  Students must have their “group of four” settled before adding their names to a block on the room assignment list.  Any students not in a group of four will add their names to a “singles list” onWednesday, 8/13 and be assigned to a group of four.  Students that have grouped into a pair, please note the other students name after their own on the singles list so that students in pairs can be maintained as much as possible.

Students flying to/from California with family/separate from band

We have several families traveling out to California ahead of the band.  Students who are traveling with their families will be “land only” travelers.  Students traveling “land only” need to sign up on the “land only” sign up sheet that will be posted on Tuesday, 8/12 &Wednesday, 8/13 in the band room.  We are asking that parents of the “land only” students also email Mr. Snyder so we can cross check and confirm the list of “land only” students. It is critical that we confirm those on “land only” travel as we establish final required fight arrangements. Please email greg.snyder@lakotaonline.com stating that your student will travel out separate from the band and be traveling “land only”.  We will follow up with drop off details in November.

Still needed:  Concert Band Uniform Chair:  Training and volunteer support is available.  See August 1st email blast for more details on responsibilities.

Fundraising Help Needed:

Tag Day Drivers Needed:  Click here to sign up on the Sign-up Genius.  Lakota West’s annual Tag Day Fundraiser is Saturday, September 6, 2014.  Approximately 80 parents are needed to transport groups of 4-6 students to Lakota neighborhoods and supervise them while they go door to door requesting for Lakota West Bands uniform fund and band support.   This is the band’s biggest single fundraiser thanks to the support of our generous community.  You will be asked to note whether you will be driving a vehicle that can hold 4 or 6 students with seatbelts.  It’s ok if it’s friendly as students are not in the car for long; however, some routes required 6 students to finish in a timely manner and we want to make sure we consider this when assigning drivers to routes.

Help needed with Uno’s Placemat Sales:  Click here to sign up on the Sign-up Genius.  Volunteers needed to approach one or more local businesses about a $250 donation in exchange for publishing their business card on a placemat to be seen by many, many people in Uno’s Chicago Grill, several Taco Bells, and possibly Back Porch Saloon and Casa Bianca.  If we sell 36 spots, this is a $9000 fundraiser!  More information provided on the Sign-up Genius.  Brochures with an example placemat available to help with your efforts.  Email president@lakotawestbands.org to arrange brochure pick-up either at Band Camp or at the Trygier’s house less than 5 min away from the high school.  If you have a personal connection and would like to contact a business that is not listed, please contact Lisa Linton (lisa.cookie63@gmail.com) and she will add them to the sign-up so we don’t contact businesses more than once.

Committee members needed to help plan a Haunted House fundraiser targeted for October 24 and 25, 2014. This is modeled after the Freedom Fall Festival Haunted Trail for anyone who has participated in that and should be a great event.  Contact Jill Trygier at president@lakotawestbands.org for more information.

Committee members needed to help plan Alumni Homecoming event on October 17, 2014 and includes a dinner for alumni and our band prior to the football game.   Several parents expressed interest in this at the Tailgate.  Anyone interested please contact Jill Trygier at president@lakotawestbands.org to make sure we have your name or to request more information.

One committee member needed to help plan Uno’s Doughraiser on October 19, 2014.  Several parents expressed interest in this at the Tailgate.   Please contact Jill Trygier at president@lakotawestbands.org to make sure we have your name or to request more information.
