Lakota West Family and Friends: Limited spaces are still available on the Family & Friends tours to the Rose Parade. Please call and book by Monday at 12:00pm EDT if you want to book a tour package with air (Only 12 spots left!). The tour packages without air are also still available. OCTOBER IS OUR BIG FUNDRAISING MONTH FOR ROSE PARADE! We will be asking for more volunteer help in October than any other month this year. We really need your help to accomplish our goals. Click HERE to see a copy of our fundraising plan. Upbeat Club has either solicited donations or is paying the costs for all of the following as part of our fundraising: Uniform, Equipment, and luggage transportation to California(~$30,000); Rose Parade Jackets – our uniform out of uniform to make our students easy to identify and to keep our groups together ($22,000); budgeted $100/student to help defray trip costs (between $25,000 and $26,000 depending on final number of students). UNO’s Dough Raiser and Haunted House are both planned for October in addition to the Alumni Band event. 50/50 Raffle also kicks off in October.
UNO’s Dough Raiser Volunteers and Ticket Sales needed! The Uno’s Dough Raiser is our biggest Rose Parade Trip Fundraiser and requires the help of over 120 volunteers! The monies earned from the Dough Raiser will help fund the $100/student that LW Upbeat Club has budgeted to take off each student’s Rose Parade trip. The Dough Raiser is Sunday, October 19 starting at 11am with last seating at 8pm. Uno’s Chicago Grill partners with LW Upbeat Club to host an All You Can Eat Buffet in an exciting and electric atmosphere. The day will feature a great buffet including their famous pizza, pasta, and other dishes, ice cream donated by Bruster’s for dessert, live music by our drumline, jazz combo, marching band leadership team, Symphonic Winds Chamber groups, and an Alumni jam session. Face painting and balloon animals will be available for children and perhaps a fire engine. Improvements from last year include increased seating so we can accommodate more guests. You can help by:
Signing up to help on the Uno’s Dough Raiser Sign-up Genius: Both student and adult volunteer help is needed – see role descriptions on sign up genius for which roles are most suitable for whom. Shifts are long to minimize turnover and ensure the success of the event. All volunteers during the Dough Raiser itself will receive a free T-shirt to wear as their “uniform” for the day. Selling Dough Raiser tickets: Each marching band student will receive 6 numbered tickets to sell at the Thursday, October 2 Silver’s rehearsal. Please encourage your student to sell the tickets or help them sell them to neighbors, co-workers and relatives. Unsold tickets or cash needs to be turned in at the Thursday, October 16 rehearsal. Pre-sold ticket numbers will be checked against the paid for list at the door – so please make sure you turn in money for any pre-sold tickets.
Publicizing the Dough Raiser: We’ve had great press coverage in Pulse-Journal and other media, and also need your help to get the word out. Sharing links from the Lakota West Bands Facebook page on your Facebook page, picking up paper copy flyers to share at Silvers on Thursday evening are great ways to do this! Electronic flyer is pending Rose Parade Committee approval and is coming soon.

- Hold October 24th and 25th open to attend or help with the “The Haunting of Old Union School” Haunted House. Funds generated from this event also go to defray Rose Parade Trip costs.
- Trivia Night is November 15 – come and play Trivia with a table of friends! Funds generated from this event also go to defray Rose Parade Trip costs.
Mattress Sale – Thanks to all the students and parents who helped with publicizing Mattress Sale, and especially Helen Huntington for leading it. We raised $4500! If you go to any mattress sale event run by the same company. LW Upbeat Club can still get the benefit of your purchase – just tell them you want is to go to Lakota West Upbeat Club!
PLEASE REGISTER OR RE-REGISTER YOUR KROGER CARD! This is our easiest fundraiser – and depends on you registering your Kroger Plus card to benefit LW Bands. Cards must be re-registered every year in the spring. Click HERE for detailed directions on how to register or re-register your card.
