Concert Band Uniform Chair Urgently Needed!   It’s almost time to fit our Concert Band Uniforms……Training and volunteer support is available.  If interested, please email Jill Trygier at president@lakotawestbands.org. The concert band uniform chair duties include:

  • Fit concert uniforms for Red, White, and Winds tuxes with a group of volunteers (requested through e-mail blast or sign-up genius) during classes in September.  Coordinate the dates for fitting days with Mr. Snyder. Bow ties, cummerbunds and tux shirts will be sold at this time also.
  • Coordinate with volunteers to get all the pants hemmed that need to be adjusted.
  • Be at concert locations about 1 hour early (all Red, White, Winds concerts) to check uniforms and help with any uniform issues.
  • Take care of any uniform problems during the year (cleaning, mending, switching bands, etc.)
  • Order needed inventory of cummerbunds, bow ties for Red, White, & Winds for next year. Measure for Winds dresses and order along with pearls for Winds.
  • Collect uniforms with a group of volunteers (requested e-mail blast or sign-up genius) after last concert in spring.
  •  Work with directors and dry-cleaner to arrange dry-cleaning PO; prep uniforms to go out for dry-cleaning; send them out, and receive them and put them away on return.  Volunteers available to help.

Thanks! Thanks for the great volunteer turnout Friday night for our first “Split the Pot” of the year and to serve pizza to the band before Freshman Night!

Spirit Wear Update:

1) Our Spirit Wear vendor will be receiving a large order very soon.  If you do not want to wait 3-4 weeks for your order to come in, Rachel Butler needs to have your order and payment in her hand (or mailbox) by Wednesday.  She will be placing the order Wednesday night.  You can mail it, deliver it to her son – Raymond Butler, or deliver it to her on Tuesday at the Upbeat Club meeting. Please contact Rachel Butler at spirit@lakotawestbands.org with questions.   She will continue to accept orders after this week, but it will take awhile to come in.

2) There are still a few Macy’s short-sleeved t-shirts left.  They are on sale for 1/2 off!  Each shirt can be purchased for $7!!!

3) Rachel is very optimistic (not promising though) to have Rose T-shirts next Thursday at Silvers.  Get yours soon!  You don’t want to be stuck without one!  Click HERE for the Spirit Wear page and order form!

4) Don’t forget to come pick up your Spirit Wear orders Thursdays at Silvers practice.  There are still items purchased from the Tailgate Party.  If you can’t make it, please have your students come see me after Silvers (typically set up at top row of bleachers). 7th Annual Mattress Sale – Reminder that the Mattress Sale is this Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 10:00am to 5:00pm on Main Street at the High School.  We are asking everyone to get involved and try to find people that are in the market for a new mattress and ask them to come to our Mattress Sale on Saturday.  Please promote the sale by sending out e-mails, taking fliers to work and posting the information on your Facebook page.  Be sure that people you send the information have your student’s name so that Ultimate Fundraising Solutions knows who made the referral! Students will be receiving their shift time this week to come hold signs, etc. for the sale.

Here is some additional information about the Mattress Sale fundraiser:

  • This is the easiest fundraiser possible.
  • Every single sale benefits the band, plus a quantity bonus. Some bands have earned $10,000 in a single day by running this one day mattress sale.
  • We are not asking anyone to buy a new mattress. This is only for the people who are already planning on making this purchase.
  • This is our band’s 7th Annual Sale. People are always happy with the products and customer service or we could never have had this event 7 times!
  • There is no retail store or showroom. This enables customers to receive higher quality mattresses at a discount.

Taste for Music at PattyBurger The next Taste for Music fundraiser will be held this Friday, September 19, Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, 2014 at PattyBurger at 9220 Allen Road in West Chester. The fundraiser will be held all weekend – so plan to come several times during the weekend to support the band and have some delicious gourmet burgers, shakes and fries.  The Lakota West Upbeat Club will receive 20% of ALL purchases during the fundraiser time period with proceeds supporting the Lakota West band programs.
