Thank you for supporting our competition efforts at Taylor and Lancaster over the weekend. The Marching Firebirds swept the awards in both competitions, and that’s credit to much hard work and focus during the past several weeks. Thanks, also, for your support of the Mattress Sale. From yard signs to social media sharing, we appreciate what you did to spread the word. We’ll soon have the results to share with you.

This Week in Band covers:

  • concert uniform fittings and volunteer requests,
  • Cedar Point medicine turn-in and payment deadline this Wednesday,
  • spiritwear orders,
  • Uno’s Doughraiser placemat advertising,
  • Split the Pot volunteers,
  • third quarter refreshments,
  • September Upbeat Club meeting,
  • this week’s schedule and
  • next week’s schedule-at-a-glance.

Concert Band Uniforms

This Monday, September 19, if your teen needs a cummerbund and bow tie for concert band, your teen should bring $14 (cash, check made payable to Lakota West Upbeat Club, or Charms payment receipt). Monday, September 19 is also the day to bring in clean, good-condition cummerbunds and bow ties from last year to swap for a different color. You and your teen should also be working on lining up uniform items not provided by the school or Upbeat Club. For specifics, please click here.

As the saying goes, many hands make for light work, and we could use more volunteer help in hemming uniforms, shortening and lengthening sleeves, and reattaching buttons. Minimal sewing skill is required, and you do not need to have a sewing machine. To volunteer, click here. Questions? Contact our concert uniform volunteer coordinator.

At 11am on September 30 the Marching Firebirds will depart Lakota West High School for Kalahari Rest in Sandusky, where they will stay and play for the evening.
