Spring Concert

Our last Lakota West band concert of the year is Monday May 8 and features concertos from Raymond Butler (percussion) and Faith Ann Santucci (flute) performing with Symphonic Winds. All four high school bands will perform starting at 7pm at Lakota West High School. Performance order; Freshman and Concert Bands perform, a short break, then Symphonic Band and Symphonic Winds perform.

Concert Uniform Turn-in

Concert Uniform Turn-in will be after the conclusion of our band concert on May 8, after all 4 bands have performed. Please Bring a change of clothes so you can turn in your concert uniform! Make sure you have your uniform bag and original jacket hangar; for most of you that will be a thick black plastic hangar made for dress jackets. Thank you!

We are looking for 9 parents to help us process the return of concert uniforms after the May 8 concert. Email concertuniforms@lakotawestbands.org if you are able to help after the concert.

Jazz Concert

The Lakota Spring Jazz concert is Wednesday May 10 at East High School starting at 6pm with West Jazz ensembles, followed by East at 7:30pm. Concert reminders for performers – click here. Special guest artist is Mr. Max Gise. He completed his Masters in Jazz Studies at CCM and his various positions have included being an instructor at the summer Jazz camp at CCM since 2008.

A big thank you to all the parent and student volunteers that helped at the annual Jazz ‘n Cakes on April 22! To see photos of the day – click here to go to our Flickr Account.

Open Upbeat Activity Leader Positions for 2017-18

Any parent with a student in the Lakota West Band Program grades 7-12 is part of the Lakota West Upbeat Program. The Upbeat Club works hard to make the transition to new Activity Leaders go smoothly from year to year. For that reason, you will often see a need for a new Leader to shadow the current Leader for the first year. For current opportunities for 2017-18, see below:

Current openings:
Bus Chaperone Leader to shadow current Leader
Jazz ‘n Cakes – Event Leader (current Leader will train)
Jazz ‘n Cakes – Market Street/Vendor Leader (current Leader will train)
Jazz ‘n Cakes – Basket Raffle Leader (current Leader will train)
Mattress Sale Leader to shadow current Leader
Pit Crew Leader to shadow current Leader
Photographers – willing to be trained, and to help Lead cover events
Split the Pot Leader
Tag Day Event Leader / Melissa Barr is assisting
Third Qtr Refreshments Leader
Uniforms (Concert) Leader to shadow current Leader
Uno’s Doughraiser Leader to shadow current Leader
Video/DVD Leader

Information to be updated as changes occur and positions are filled. See Upbeat page for most current information regarding openings and volunteer needs throughout the year. For current list of Board, Committee and Activity Leader positions and contact information, please see our Key Contacts Page.

For more information or to volunteer, please contact Dawn at president@lakotawestbands.org.

Activity Fee Credit from District

Marching Band students from the 2016-17 season received a $200 credit and it is posted in their HAC account.  This will carry over to the next school year until new fees are posted. If you are joining marching band for the 2017-18 season, this credit can be applied for next year’s band fee. No action is required on your part to apply the credit. For additional questions, please contact the West Bursar – Linda Ferguson.
