Freshman Parent Meeting August 23 – for Freshman Concert Band families

Mr. Racic is holding at meeting on Thursday 8/23 at 6:30pm in the Freshman Theater.  Many important things will be covered and hopefully all your questions answered.  Topics include Lakota Band Day 9/21, OMEA Solo & Ensemble Contest, OMEA Large Group Contest, Concert Schedule, Upbeat Club participation and more.

Upbeat Club Booster Meeting August 23 – Note time changed to 7:30pm for August Only

All parents and guardians of band students grades 7-12 are welcome to attend! Meeting will start at 7:30pm at the Freshman Building in the band room or Theater and run appx one hour. This first meeting of the year may run longer. Come out to see what is ahead and get your questions answered. Click here for Agenda. Football Game Friday 8/24

Tickets available in advance through Thursday at West High School for $10/ea. Tickets available at gate at $12/ea.  See email from Mr. Carr with the subject “Paul Brown Game Info (Students and Parents)”that came out 8/19. Schedule of the day is also now on the calendar. Highlights: report at 3:30pm, plan on full uniform, pack dinner.

Important Reminders about wearing marching band uniform:

  1. Handout given to students at Uniform Fitting  – click here
  2. Items to Pack in Your Red Bag for every Game or Competition (from Handbook)
    • Parka (rain or shine, things change)
    • Shako/Beret and box
    • Gloves (L/R)
    • Marching Shoes (name marked on inside)
    • Black crew socks
    • Flip folder & lyre (for football games)
    • Water bottle
    • Hair ties, bobby pins, etc…
    • Small bag (cinch or other) for personal items (watch, wallet, jewelry, phone etc…)
    • Power snack  (granola bar, trail mix etc..)

Tag Day August 25

Tag – You’re it! Actually, We’re ALL IT!  Thank you to all that signed up just since Saturday! We still need 25 more drivers.

All Lakota West marching and concert band students grades 9-12 are expected to participate. Attendance will be taken upon arrival. We need everyone because this event benefits everyone! We need 85 parents to drive a route.  Any route missed is a significant impact on the amount of donations we collect. The SIGN-UP FOR 85 parents needed is here! Marching Firebird Yard Signs! Available for a limited time! They are $25 each, payable by cash or check. See link to print order form
Orders will be collected on the following dates/times:

Concert Uniform Fittings grades 10-12

Students in Concert, Symphonic or Symphonic Winds will be fitted for concert uniforms during their block bell (bells 4, 5 and 6) on August 29 and August 30.
