Winter Guard Parent Meeting and Auditions

The 2013 Lakota West Winter Guard parent/student informational meeting is on Tuesday, November 13, at 6 p.m. in the Lakota West High School band room. Parents and students are asked to attend this meeting to receive general information on the program, membership dues, rehearsal and performance schedule, as well as other expectations and requirements for the winter guard program. If your daughter or son wishes to audition for winter guard, a parent/guardian and the student must be present at this meeting to receive the necessary information.

Auditions for the 2013 Lakota West Winter Guard will be on Thursday, November 15, from 6 – 9 p.m. at Creekside Early Childhood School. Results will be posted by the weekend with the first rehearsal on Tuesday, November 20.

The Lakota West Winter Guard is the reigning 2012 TriState Circuit Championships Scholastic A Gold Medalist as well as the 2012 Winter Guard International Scholastic A Fans Favorite. In 2012, Lakota West attended World Championships for the first time in school history and not only made finals, but was ranked 13th in the world out of over 125 competing groups.

Congratulations Lakota West Winter Guard
2012 WGI Finalists and Fans Favorite

The Lakota West Winterguard not only made school history this weekend by attending Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championships for the first time, but they also made it to Scholastic A Class World Finals! They placed 13th out of over 100 competing groups from around the world. This was no small feat as many groups attend world championships for years before making it to the finals. In addition to this, they were voted by audience members as the Fans Favorite! Thousands of votes were cast and Lakota West was chosen. Just a tribute to how amazingly well the performers brought the show to life! Congratulations to the members for all their hard work and dedication!

WGI also did an interview with Director Eric Jones on the show. The show was entitled “…where the memories lie,” and was a tribute to those lost on Titanic 100 years ago on April 15, 1912. You can view the interview HERE.

After a very touching and emotional performance at WGI World Championships, the Lakota West Winterguard is proud to be a Scholastic A World Class Finalist. Congratulations to all involved and all that made the season possible!

Winter Guard TriState Championships – March 31

Lakota West wins 1st Place in Scholastic A!

The Lakota West Firebirds Winter Guard competed on March 31st at the TriState Championships. The guard competed against 15 other schools and won 1st place in the Scholastic A division. This was the first time that the West Winter Guard has won this competition.
