2012 WGI Finalists and Fans Favorite

The Lakota West Winterguard not only made school history this weekend by attending Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championships for the first time, but they also made it to Scholastic A Class World Finals! They placed 13th out of over 100 competing groups from around the world. This was no small feat as many groups attend world championships for years before making it to the finals. In addition to this, they were voted by audience members as the Fans Favorite! Thousands of votes were cast and Lakota West was chosen. Just a tribute to how amazingly well the performers brought the show to life! Congratulations to the members for all their hard work and dedication!

WGI also did an interview with Director Eric Jones on the show. The show was entitled “…where the memories lie,” and was a tribute to those lost on Titanic 100 years ago on April 15, 1912. You can view the interview HERE.

After a very touching and emotional performance at WGI World Championships, the Lakota West Winterguard is proud to be a Scholastic A World Class Finalist. Congratulations to all involved and all that made the season possible!

Winter Guard TriState Championships – March 31

Lakota West wins 1st Place in Scholastic A!

The Lakota West Firebirds Winter Guard competed on March 31st at the TriState Championships. The guard competed against 15 other schools and won 1st place in the Scholastic A division. This was the first time that the West Winter Guard has won this competition.

The Guard will also be competing in the WGI World Championships this Thursday April 12th at the Nutter Center in Dayton. They will perform their show “Where the Memories lie” (a tribute to the Titanic passengers) @ 4:57. Hopefully they will move on and be competing in the semi-finals on Friday morning, with Finals being Friday evening.

Lakota West Marching Firebirds
2012-2013 Color Guard Auditions

So you think you can dance? So you think you can perform? So you think you can spin? If so, the Lakota West Marching Firebirds Color Guard will be holding auditions to be a part of the 2012 cast on April 23rd & 25th. Auditions will be from 4:30-7pm on the 23rd and from 4:30-6pm on the 25th at the Early Childhood building, connected to West Freshman school. Please plan on attending both evenings of auditions. You will need to wear comfortable clothing that allows your body to move freely and tennis shoes.

Please do not wear jeans.

The audition will be a 2 night process. You NEED to be at both nights. Each night you will participate in a short technique class and then learn a brief piece of choreography.
