Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Parent Volunteer Opportunities

Lakota West has an extensive number of band activities and we need lots of volunteers! For example, it takes 50 parents to assist at each band competition. This includes help with uniforms, bus chaperones, pit crew, photographers, and more.  Click here to view volunteer descriptions.  If you have questions or would like to be on the contact list for any of the activities, please email Candi at,  and you will be contacted by someone in the Upbeat Club. Many of the positions will also use Sign-up Genius to communicate volunteer needs, and fill open slots.  Be sure to signup for emails through our website in order to hear about the current volunteer opportunities. You can make a real difference for the students in our program AND make great friends along the way.

Current Activity Leader Openings:

The Upbeat Club works hard to make the transition to new Activity Leaders go smoothly from year to year. For that reason, you will often see a need for a new Leader to shadow the current Leader for the first year. For current Activity Leader openings  – see link here.

For more information or to volunteer, please contact  or You can also contact the current leader directly. For contact information visit our Key Contact Page.

Band Camp 2019

Welcome to the 2019 season of the Marching Firebirds!  Your kids need parent volunteers to make these 3 weeks the safest and productive environment for a successful season.  Parent volunteers help support the directors and the students during band camp.  We feed over 220 students and adults, take them on fun social outings to build friendships, provide first aid support and keep them hydrated!  Students will spend 152 hours over these 3 weeks working very hard and we will need adult support for all of those hours.  If you are able to volunteer for even the smallest shift you have made a difference.

Flexibility is key when volunteering for band camp.  Marching band is an outdoor sport and is dependent on the weather.  Directors may also decide to change the schedule last minute to best suit current needs.  We have done our best to describe jobs that need to be done during the given time slot.  We also are flexible with our time slots.  If you have to step out for a few minutes, arrive or leave early from your shift just note that in the comments.  Please make sure that someone from your shift will be covering your job while you’re gone.

Volunteer Check-In Locations:
Morning Setup: Meet outside by the athletic doors.
General Help & First Aid: If the band is on the field – meet on the field at first aid tent.  During sectionals meet at the table just inside the doors by the band room.
Lunch/Dinner Crew: Meet in the cafe.
