A big shout out to all our uniform fitting volunteers!  Thank you to all the volunteers that helped with fitting week! Your efforts were greatly appreciated by all.

Concert Band Uniform Chair still needed!   Training and volunteer support is available.  The concert band uniform chair duties include:

  • Fit concert uniforms for Red, White, and Winds tuxes with a group of volunteers (requested through e-mail blast or sign-up genius) during classes in September.  Coordinate the dates for fitting days with Mr. Snyder. Bow ties, cummerbunds and tux shirts will be sold at this time also.
  • Coordinate with volunteers to get all the pants hemmed that need to be adjusted.
  • Be at concert locations about 1 hour early (all Red, White, Winds concerts) to check uniforms and help with any uniform issues.
  • Take care of any uniform problems during the year (cleaning, mending, switching bands, etc.)
  • Order needed inventory of cummerbunds, bow ties for Red, White, & Winds for next year. Measure for Winds dresses and order along with pearls for Winds.
  • Collect uniforms with a group of volunteers (requested e-mail blast or sign-up genius) after last concert in spring.
  • Work with directors and dry cleaner to arrange drycleaning PO; prep  uniforms to go out for drycleaning; send them out, and receive them and put them away on return.  Volunteers available to help.

Raising money for Rose:  Please help with Placemat Advertising for Uno’s Dough Raiser!  If 36 people each find one business to pay $250 to have their business card seen by more than 3000 people – we can raise up to $9000!  We have committed to $100/student Upbeat donation to offset Rose trip costs in our budget – and need to deliver on our fundraising to support this.

Uno’s Chicago Grill is partnering with Lakota West Upbeat Club to raise money through a Dough Raiser for the Lakota West Marching Firebirds’ trip to march in the January 1, 2015 Tournament of Roses® Parade.

The Dough Raiser is planned for Sunday, October 19th.  During September and October leading up to the event, placemats advertising local businesses and the Dough Raiser event will be used at UNO Chicago Grill, multiple Taco Bell locations, and possibly The Back Porch Saloon and Casa Bianca. On the placemats, the advertising for local businesses will consist of a business card sized space for $250 or a double business card sized space for $400.  There are 18 available spots on each placemat.

We would like to have enough local business supporters to have 2 versions of the placemats.  That is 36 spots to fill and the potential for $9000 towards the trip to the Tournament of Roses Parade.

This is where YOU come in!  We need people to contact 1 or more of the businesses identified below to solicit their support as an advertiser on the placemats.  Ask to speak to the manager or the owner and explain this great, cost effective opportunity for local advertising that also shows their support of our great Marching Firebirds!

Do you know the owner or manager of 1 or more local businesses?  Do you shop or do business with any local businesses?  Do you have enthusiasm for the Lakota West Marching Firebirds?  Do you have a little time during the first 2 weeks of August?  If you said Yes to any of those questions, then you have what it takes to help make these placemats a success!

Click here to sign up to contact the businesses of your choice  on the Sign-Up Genius.  There is no limit to the number of businesses you can sign up to contact.  If you would like to contact other businesses that are not listed here, please contact Lisa Linton (lisarlinton3@gmail.com) to add the business to the tracking list.  This enables us to avoid multiple calls to the same business.

We need a check for the advertising and a business card or a print ready artwork file (eg, .jpg) turned in by Thursday, August 14th.  Checks should be made out to Lakota West Upbeat Club.  Checks and business cards should be turned in to Lisa Linton (lisarlinton3@gmail.com) or Jill Trygier (president@lakotawestbands.org).  Brochures including a centerfold of what a placemat looks like have been prepared to help you and can be picked up from Jill Trygier any evening at band camp in the Lakota West Freshman Stadium.
