Lakota West Bands Update: August 2

A communication from the Lakota West Upbeat Club

This communication covers events and special notes for the upcoming week:

Pool Party at Beckett Ridge Pool on 8/2 from 9-11 pm– transportation on own


Lock-in 8/3 at Freshman Building from 8pm – 1am

  • Games and fun for all after a full week of band camp!
  • Snack Assignments – you may drop the items off starting Friday morning to the Upbeat table inside the doors at the freshman building
    • Woodwinds: sweet treats – cookies, brownies, candy, fruit…
      Brass: salty/savory – chips, salsa, cheese, pepperoni, crackers, cocktail meatballs…
      Guard: drinks – bottled water, lemonade, juice, canned soda (no cups, just single serve boxes, pouches or cans please)
      Drum line/Percussion: napkins, paper towels, small plates, small bowls

Uniform Fittings and Third Qtr Snack donations Aug 6-7

  • Volunteer linkwe need many more helpers to get everyone fitted on schedule.    We especially need help Tuesday. If we don’t have enough parents helping, the night will extend longer than expected for all.  Please consider a giving a couple hours of your time next week for this effort!

  • Snack Donations for Football Games: To keep us well-stocked for third quarters, students should place two two-liter bottles of lemonade or clear soda (no red, orange or dark soda, please!) and two full-sized packages of cookies (no frosted cookies, please!) in the bin outside the band room as they enter to put on uniforms for fitting day.

Cookie Dough Fundraiser  7/30 – 8/7

  • Its Cookie Dough Time! Help support the Lakota West Marching Band compete in the Bands of America Super Regional Competition in October, in Lucas Oil Stadium by purchasing ready-to-bake- cookies! Proceeds will go to offset the overall costs for the trip (chaperones, etc…). Anything additional will go to the Lakota West Upbeat Club to support all Lakota West Bands! Wait, there’s more! Click on ‘Departments’ and purchase any of the items – ideal for out-of-town band supporters because these items ship to your door. All cookie orders will be delivered to the high school on or around 9/12. If you have a special marching Firebird to support, note them in the checkout process.   • Deadline to place orders is 8/7.  Payment for the sales made by the students can be paid for online (easiest) or with a check made out to the Lakota West Upbeat Club.  All orders and payments are due 8/8. If you have checks, they must be given to Mrs. Daiker at camp on 8/8 by 4pm. No exceptions.
