Fall Concert is on Tuesday, Oct 16. The concert starts at 7:00 pm in the Freshman School Auditorium. Students need to report to school that evening at 6:20 pm. 1st period band students will warm-up in the band room, 2nd period band students should get their instruments and music and go to the cafeteria. Students need to be in the appropriate concert attire for the performance. Dressy white tops, boys need a long tie (if you don’t have one, we will loan you one). Long dark pants, not blue jeans, not sweat pants, not Capri pants. Girls may wear skirts, but the skirt should be long enough so the student does not have to alter how she sits so she can be comfortable.
The concert will be over around 7:45 pm. Immediately after the concert and after things are cleaned up, the Lakota West Upbeat Club will hold its monthly meeting. A big agenda item this month is the upcoming trip to New York City and the Macy’s parade.
1st Quarter Assessments will begin the week of Oct 22. Students will play individually. The test is on the first 7 scales of the circle of 4ths. In concert pitch, they will play G, C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, and Db. The scales must be played from memory. We have been playing these in class everyday as part of our warm-up/technical exercises. It is our hope that everyone will play these scales very well.
Congrats to the Marching Firebirds for their performance at the Ohio State University. The Marching Firebirds won Best Colorguard and Best Percussion in Class AA. One of the highlights of the day was getting to see the Ohio State University Marching Band perform their “Classic Video Games” show and of course, the incomparable script Ohio.
