Freshman Band Announcements – Oct. 8

  1. Congratulations to the Marching Firebirds for their performance at the Northcoast Marching Band Festival Saturday night, Oct 6. The band was named Class AA Champion and won Best Music, Best Colorguard, Best Visual, and Best General Effect in Class AA. The band also won the same Overall Awards and was named Grand Champion of the entire competition. Our Freshman Band Aids played an important part in this performance. We also had a great time at Castaway Bay and Cedar Point.
  2. Band Aid schedule for this week: Thursday, Oct 11-rehearsal in the football stadium, 8-9:00pm; Friday, Oct 12-home football game (senior night), report time 6:15 pm. We will perform the competition show at the beginning of halftime, after which we will recognize our senior marching band members; Saturday, Oct 13-Buckeye Invitational, Ohio State University. Students should report to the band room no later than 1:00 pm. We will have a very brief rehearsal and are leaving for OSU at 1:30 pm. Our performance time is 5:30 pm. There are 3 bands performing after us, Grove City, The Ohio School for the Blind, and a special performance by The Ohio State University Marching Band (they WILL do script Ohio for the audience). Awards will be announced after the Ohio State Marching Band performs. We expect to leave OSU around 7:15pm. We will be stopping at the Stringtown Road exit off of I-71 for dinner. Students will need dinner money (fast food restaurants will be the places we go). We expect to return to school around 10:00 pm.
  3. The Fall Band Concerts for all the West Bands are next Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, Oct 15, 2012, Red and White Symphonic Bands and Symphonic Winds will be performing starting at 7:00 pm in the Main Campus Auditorium. On Tuesday, Oct 16, 2012, the two Freshman Bands will be performing starting at 7:00 pm in the Freshman Campus Auditorium. Report time for the Freshman Concert is 6:20 pm: 1st Period Band will warm-up with Mr. Chumley in the band room and 2nd Period will warm-up with my Snyder in the cafeteria. Students are required to stay for both performances. The concert will end about 7:45, after which, the Lakota West Upbeat Club will hold their monthly meeting. We encourage you to stay for the meeting. There most likely will be discussion of the Macy’s trip at this time.
