Taste of Music continues! The next ‘Taste’ will be today, February 20, 2013 from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. at Red Robin across from the Rave! Simply bring in the attached Red Robin Flyer and the band will receive 10% of your check in donation. Tux Sale – Need a tux for prom or the Firebird Ball? Buy from the band! We are selling our used and nearly new tux jackets ($15-25) sizes 36-54, pants ($10) adjustable waist, and shirts ($10) in the band/uniform room Wed 2/20 and Fri 2/22 from 2:40-6pm and Sat 2/23 10am – 2pm.
Trips – MACYS – 17 spaces are left in the followers package, please sign up HERE by 3/1. When the spaces are gone, the package is closed. There are 6 seats left on the followers bus. If you have signed up for the followers package please choose a Broadway show by 3/1 by CLICKING HERE. Students should sign up on the sheets outside the band rooms at their school. We will also have our first informational meeting about Macy’s after the 3/4 concert for about 30 minutes. BRANSON – Please continue to make scheduled trip payments following the schedules on the website (Branson & Macys payments due 2/28). The final cost of Branson is $750 and the final payment has been adjusted. Medications and forms for the Branson trip will be collected from parents at the 3/4 concert by the school nurse.
MB/deposits – Marching band deposit deadlines were extended to allow for our new guard members to make their payments. ALL MB deposits will be due by 2/28. Beginning 3/1 a $50 late fee will be assessed for ANY band member paying their initial $150 MB deposit (including guard). Please pay promptly. After discussion at the Upbeat meeting and a vote of the ~50 parents in attendance we unanimously voted to recommend to the administration to make marching band an extracurricular activity rather than a graded class for the upcoming school year.
Volunteering opportunities/needs – Red Concessions – We have an opportunity to work Reds concessions and make $6000 or more. Its a 12 game minimum commitment, 8 volunteers/game, you must be at least 16 years old, and you must take a 5 hour training course to participate. Please CLICK HERE for more info or to sign up and indicate your interest if you think you can commit to the training. Uniform Pillows – after 2 sessions we have 1/3 to 1/2 of the work done with a limited number of volunteers. If you can rip a seam, iron, or sew a straight line we can use you.
