Tag Day (80) Adult Drivers Needed! –  Saturday 9/7  8am – 1pm, Enjoy a morning drive/walk with 4-6 teens.  This is the band’s biggest fundraiser and requires the most volunteers.  As of 8/12 we have 20 drivers and we usually have many more by this time.  We need you!  CLICK HERE to learn more or to sign up to volunteer.  It’s a great way to get to know fellow band parents and students.

Enquirer article 8/12 –  The Lakota West marching band’s road to Macy’s was featured in an article in the Enquirer in the paper on Monday.  The reporter visited us during band camp last week.  CLICK HERE to read the digital version of the article, which includes a video.

MB News –  Following are a few items of interest for MB members:

  • A full 2013 MB directory is published in Charms.  Once in Charms, click on “Handouts & Files” and then on the folder “MB 2013.”  The excel file is in this folder.
  • The lock in will be held at the WEST MAIN campus this Friday 8/16 from 10pm until 6am.  Attendance is required.  Please see Mr. Snyder or Mr. Chumley if you have a conflict or issue.  Please be on time as we will begin with a showing of the “coordinate” movie and West Side Story.  We need chaperones for this event.  The evening has been scheduled in 2 hour shifts.  CLICK HERE to sign up to help.
  • MB photos will be taken in uniform this Friday 8/16 at 11 am.  Please be sure to bring any necessary uniform items with you in your red bag.

Kroger Community Rewards  – This is the easiest fundraiser for the band.  It does not cost anything.  You shop at Kroger, swipe your Kroger Rewards card at check out, and the band receives money.  It does not affect your fuel or other rewards.  You must register your card to our number annually.  Please CLICK HERE for instructions on how to (re) register your Kroger Rewards card to the West Upbeat Club.  The more cards that are registered and shop at Kroger, the more the band receives.

Freshman band registration – Freshmen need to get registered in Charms and buy their Tshirt for Freshman night 9/6 when they take the field with the Marching Firebirds and Tag Day 9/7.  Please CLICK HERE to go to the web site and follow the 4 step process before school starts.  It takes a week to get your account in Charms set up so please don’t procrastinate.  Other than “freshman night,” freshmen do not march until their sophomore year.  Freshman parents are encouraged to get involved with Tag Day.  Please CLICK HERE to learn more or to sign up to volunteer.

Upbeat Club Meeting:  our first meeting is 8/20 at 7:30pm in the band room. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month. We are a parent volunteer group that supports all band activities. If you have a student in any band grades 7-12 you are a member. Come and learn more about what we do and how to get involved.
