MB composite photo — Since this is the first year with the new uniforms we are creating a MB composite photo (as seen on display in the band room) for posterity. This is usually done once every 3 years. Every member of the Marching Firebirds needs to get their photo taken (no charge) either Thur 9/5 or Fri 9/6 between 3 – 6:30pm. There are sign up sheets in the band room. There are no make ups and with a game Friday the whole band can’t come at 6pm Friday. Students need their uniform jacket, instrument, and gloves (silvers only) NO neckstraps, hats, etc. There will be a sousa in the room for use already. If you are early, come right in. If you missed Lifetouch picture day this will be an opportunity to order picture products. You will get forms and be sent a proof. We could use a volunteer or 2 each day to manage the door and keep things running. If you can help email Sue Tanner at president@lakotawestbands.org
Tag Day Adult Drivers Needed! – Saturday 9/7 8am – 1pm, Enjoy a morning drive/walk with 4-6 teens. This is the band’s biggest fundraiser and requires the most volunteers. As of 8/28 we need 10 more drivers to cover all the routes. We need you! CLICK HERE to learn more or to sign up to volunteer.
Concert Uniform Fitting — Main Campus Concert Band uniform fittings will be September 11 – 13. Your student will need the following:
- Winds girls are fit for dresses. Dresses cost ($65) and pearls ($5).
- All other band members will be fit for their jacket and pants.
- All other band members must have the correct color bow tie ($4) and cummerbund ($10) for their band. Bow ties and cummerbunds are available for purchase through Upbeat or students can bring in and trade their old bow tie and cummerbund for the color they need this year.
- All other band members will also need a tuxedo shirt. Upbeat has gently used tuxedo shirts for sale ($10) or you can buy a new one for $20 at Hobby Lobby (CLICK HERE to use the 40% off coupon).
- CLICK HERE to make payments for bow ties, cummerbunds, dresses, pearls and tuxedo shirts thru the website (please print and bring your Paypal receipt) or send a check to school with your student.

September Scrip orders due noon Friday 9/6 – Don’t forget to get your Scrip orders in this month. For a copy of the order form and complete details concerning the SCRIP program CLICK HERE. The deadline for orders this month is September 3, 2013 if you mail your order, and noon September 6th if you drop it off.
Freshman band registration – Freshmen need to get registered in Charms and buy their Tshirt for Freshman night 9/6 when they take the field with the Marching Firebirds and Tag Day 9/7. MACYS TRIP — Please mark your calendar. We will have a Macy’s pre trip meeting for student and parents (and possibly followers) on Tuesday, 10/8 at 7pm in the West Freshman Auditorium. We will cover details of the trip and answer questions.
