1. Our Fall Concert is only 2 weeks away, Tuesday, October 22, 2015. The students have been working very hard on a challenging program of music. The concert band program is the center of our band program at Lakota West and we strive to provide the best in musical training to our students. The concert starts at 7:00 pm in the Freshman School Auditorium. The students will need to report to for warm-up at 6:20 pm. 1st period band will warm-up in the band room, 2nd period band will leave their cases in the band room and warm-up in the cafeteria.
2. Our “uniform” for Freshman Band Concerts is dress white tops (boys-that means a shirt with a collar), and black bottoms. Long black pants for boys or girls (no jeans), girls may wear black skirts, but, please make sure they are long enough so that the student does not have to alter how they sit while they play. Black shoes and socks for boys, dark shoes for girls. Boys need to wear a long tie with their white shirt. This is a formal occasion and we want to look our best.
3. This Friday, Oct 11 is homecoming. The Marching Firebirds will be performing at halftime. The Freshman Band Aides will be needed for this performance and on for rehearsal on Thursday, Oct 10 . There is no competition this weekend. Our next competition is on Saturday, Oct 19 at Harrison HS in Harrison, OH.
4. Believe it or not, Quarterly Assessments are almost here. Our assessment day is Thursday, Oct 24. This is the assessment day for ALL FRESHMAN BANDS, (1st & 2nd pds, & Jazz band-3rd pd). The students are all aware of what they will have to play for the test.
That’s it for this week. As always, if there are any questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Chumley at phillip.chumley@lakotaonline.
