Jazz ‘N Cakes – is ONE WEEK AWAY on Saturday morning 3/22 from 8am – noon. We still need MANY volunteers. Flipping pancakes, watching baskets, selling tickets…we’ve got a volunteer spot for you! Come volunteer at the 17th annual Lakota West Bands Jazz ‘N Cakes Pancake breakfast and experience the energy of Market Street with many outstanding baskets and vendors, have a great breakfast with great music, and volunteer for a shift or two! This is our 2nd biggest fundraiser of the year and a lot of fun. Adults, sign-up for your spot now by CLICKING HERE. Student alumni in the area or on spring break are welcome to volunteer through the adult sign-up, as are their parents. Current student sign ups are on the board(s) in the band room(s). Students are strongly encouraged to work a shift and can earn service hours for doing so. JAZZ STUDENTS performing do NOT need a ticket to eat breakfast, all others do, including volunteers. The following is the schedule of the bands to plan your shift(s):
8:00am – West Freshman
8:40 – Ridge Jr. School 7th grade Jazz Band
9:10 – West Jazz Combo
10:00 – Plains Jr. School 7th Grade Jazz Band
10:30 – West Jazz Ensemble
11:15 – West Jazz Combo
Students (grades 9-12) will be given 5 tickets to sell. Tickets will be $6 each this year and also available at the door the day of the event. Ticket money or any unsold tickets can be put in an envelope and mailed back to: Lakota West Upbeat Club, P.O. Box 1637, West Chester, OH 45071-1637 , returned to school and given to the Upbeat volunteer during band class the week of 3/17, or given to the Jazz ‘N Cakes ticket sellers the day of the event. Ticket instructions and information about the event will be with the tickets given to the students.
So you think you can dance? So you think you can perform? So you think you can spin? If so, the Lakota West Marching Firebirds Color Guard will be holding auditions to be a part of the 2014 cast on March 24th & 26th. Auditions will be from 6-8 both evenings in Freedom Elementary gym. You need to attend both evenings of auditions if you are interested in being a part of the colorguard. There will be a mandatory parent meeting on March 24th at 6:30. This is an important time to learn about the program and ask important questions. You will need to wear comfortable clothing that allows your body to move freely and tennis shoes. Please do not wear jeans.
Upbeat Club Meeting: our next meeting is 3/18 at 7:30pm in the band room. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month. We are a parent volunteer group that supports all band activities. If you have a student in any band grades 7-12 you are a member. Come and learn more about what we do and how to get involved.
