Thanks to our directors, students, all our marching band volunteers, and supportive parents for a wonderful season with the Marching Firebirds and congratulations to our Marching Band award and scholarship winners!
If you were shooting video of the marching band concert (or of any other event this season), please contact Mark Geoghegan at DVD@lakotawestbands.org. Mark is our video crew leader, and he is collecting video for inclusion in the 2015 Marching Firebirds “En Fuego” DVD of the season. The more we send him to add to what has been shot by the video team, the better it is! Don’t worry about shakiness, etc – Tristate can edit around spots that didn’t quite turn out. We are in the middle of figuring out how we will approach DVD for next season as we try to sort through selling physical copies to a smaller group vs. digital download. Expect to hear our plans in January so you can make your arrangements to get your copy!
We had an exciting and successful Uno’s Trucksgiving DoughRai$er on Sunday. We hope you were able to be part of this experience. Thank you to all who attended, who sold tickets, the students who performed, the volunteers who worked so hard, and the committee of Jill Trygier, Dawn DiLorenzo, Michelle Guinigundo, Mariam Kassem, and Kevin Moorman. Special thanks to Becky and Todd Wilbur who close their Uno’s restaurant to regular business for the day and put in many extra hours along with their staff to support our band program, UDF who donated ice cream, and GFS and Meijer who donated cookies,
Winter Guard Auditions: 2015/16 Winter Guard auditions will be held on Wedenesday, November 11, 2015 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm in the gym at Creekside Early Childhood School. Swing Dance: Reserve the date and mark your calendars. The 2015 Swing Dance is less than 5 weeks away on Friday, December 11th from 7:30- 10:00pm! Enjoy jazz performances by all Lakota West jazz bands as the Lakota West cafeteria is transformed into a jazz club for the evening. To make this a special night, we need volunteers. Jazz parents are kindly requested to take a shift. All band parents are invited to volunteer, helping with set-up/decorating, selling tickets, running coat check, serving snacks, and tearing down/cleaning up. Most shifts are 1-2 hours, so there is plenty of time to enjoy the entertainment before or after your shift. You will not miss your child playing. If you have never volunteered before, consider taking a shift at this totally fun, truly unique event! Details and volunteer sign up through Sign Up Genius will be out soon.
