Miamisburg Marching Band Invitational Congratulations

Congratulations to the Marching Firebirds for their record-setting score for Lakota West in a Mid-States Band Association contest. Their score of 89.2 blew way our school’s previous record high by more than three points! Here’s a list of the awards:

Open Class Best Visuals,

Open Class Best General Effect,

Open Class Best Music,

Open Class Best Auxiliary,

Open Class 1st place, and

Overall Grand Champion.

Volunteers for Uniform REturn Needed

Sign up here to help with the marching band uniform return effort, which will begin immediately after the Marching Band Concert & Awards on Tuesday evening, November 1. As the saying goes, many hands make for light work!

FOURTH ANNUAL UNO’S DOUGHRAISER IS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6

Our next fundraiser is the Uno’s Doughraiser on Sunday, November 6, at the West Chester Uno’s. The owners generously let us run their restaurant for a day and keep the profits. It’s an all-hands-on-deck effort of our parents and students, and the good news is that it’s fun. You can help now by:

signing up for a volunteer role on SignUp Genius and
buying your tickets and encouraging your family, friends and neighbors to buy tickets online now. The online/earlybird price is only $15. The at-the-door price is $20.

Spiritwear

Our final ordering deadline of the year will be around November 6 — this to get items here before the holidays. If you already placed an order, it will be available at Silvers (Thursday evening rehearsals) as soon as it is delivered to our Spiritwear coordinator. If you’re able to come to Silvers, your teen can check immediately after Silvers practice; alternatively, you can email Rachel Butler to see if your order is in. If you have not placed an order, please do as soon as possible to be included in our next bulk order with our supplier. Questions? See our spirit wear shop or email spirit@lakotawestbands.org.

This Week’s Schedule

Tuesday, October 25: LWHS: Marching band Sectionals from 3 to 4pm
Wednesday, October 26: LWHS Parking Lot: Marching band rehearsal from 3 to 5:30pm
Thursday, October 27: LWFS Stadium: Marching band rehearsal from 7 to 9pm (Bandoween!)
Friday, October 28: LWHS: Home football game vs. East: all marching members report to theater in full uniform for warmup at 5:30pm for a ~ 6:25pm march into the stadium for pre-game, and a 7pm game start time
Saturday, October 29: LWHS: report time for pre-State Finals rehearsal and meetings TBA
Saturday, October 29: OMEA Marching Band State Finals performance time of 8:30pm at Hilliard Bradley High School, 2800 Walker Road, Hilliard, Ohio
