OMEA District 13 Honor Band auditions are coming up quickly. They are on Saturday, Dec 1 at Fairfield Middle School. The students have been working on their audition music for about a week. The most important deadline is this Wednesday, November 14. The registration application is due. Cost of the audition is $3. This fee is used to pay the judges for their time on Saturday, Dec 1. The registration/application form can be picked up in the band room.
A couple of things to be aware of regarding Honor Band: 1)If selected, you must be able to attend ALL rehearsals, which are Friday evening, January 18 (5:30-9pm), Saturday, January 19 (9am-4pm) and the concert is on Sunday afternoon, Jan 20, beginning at 2:00pm. All rehearsals and the concert will be held at Mason Middle and High Schools. If you cannot make it to ALL of these rehearsals, you should not audition; 2)if selected for Honor Band, there will be an additional membership fee of $30 that will need to be paid prior to the first rehearsal on Friday, Jan 18; 3)this is a great opportunity for our students to perform with some of the best musicians in our area, we think that many of our students will be selected to be in Honor Band, we hope that as many as possible will have the opportunity to audition.
Lakota Ridge and Plains have their first concert of the year on Thursday, November 15. We hope you will try to attend either of these concerts and support our younger band members as they continue to learn and prepare for high school band.
