We are back in the pillow making business! The vendor could not make the fabulous design we wanted so we took the project back in house. For those band moms (and dads) suffering from cabin fever, who may have missed us for solo & ensemble, can’t wait for Jazz ‘N Cakes, are looking for a great bonding experience for a cause, we have a project for you! Come for a few hours or a few days. We accept all talent/skill levels, have several different jobs, and there is a job for YOU! The next meeting of the Lakota West Upbeat Club will be February 19th at 7:30pm in the Lakota West HS band room. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month. We are a parent volunteer group that supports all band activities. If you have a student in any band, grades 7-12, you are a member. This month we have a few very important topics. The most important is to discuss changes the district is proposing that affect the band program, specifically marching band. We are being asked for input and it needs to be given quickly. If marching band remains as a graded CLASS there will be significant changes to how the program is run. The alternative is to make it completely extracurricular. There are cause & effect consequences either way. We will talk these through at the meeting and discuss. Please come if you are able to hear the data or if you want to input.
Thanks to everyone that came out for the West Upbeat sponsored Community Conversation. We had a great turn out, the school board and central office turned out in force, we had visitors from the community, and we had an excellent discussion. About 35 attendees in total.
