Friday 12/14 8-10pm — Jazz Swing Dance — The Lakota West Band/Jazz program sponsors this event, which has been getting bigger each year. This is a fundraiser for our programs. We will decorate the cafeteria, provide refreshments for sale, provide entertainment and “supervision,” AND you get to DANCE! The planning is beginning for this event, which is coordinated by Erin Hallman and Mariam Kassem. If you would like to help with the event this year we need volunteers. Sunday 12/16 10am-12noon — Santa Fun Run — This is a new event for West Chester and for the band. It is a 5K run to benefit Reach Out Lakota. The first 500 >12 yrs old to register will receive a Santa suit to run in, <12 yrs old will receive a special T-shirt. This is also a pet friendly event. The race starts at 11am at the fountain by the Rave (streets of West Chester), ends in the same area, and stays on that side of I-75. For a contribution from event organizers, winds and/or jazz ensembles will play holiday music from ~10:30-11am and 11:30-12noon. The other thing we’ll be doing as a fundraiser at this event is offering a “beverage shack” with (hot) drinks for sale. We may also be offering snacks for sale, we are checking on this.
