Tag Day (80) Adult Drivers Needed! – Saturday 9/7 8am – 1pm, Enjoy a morning drive/walk with 4-6 teens. This is the band’s biggest fundraiser and requires the most volunteers. As of 8/17 we have 37 drivers and we need up to 80. We need you! CLICK HERE to learn more or to sign up to volunteer. It’s a great way to get to know fellow band parents and students.
New MB uniforms debut at 8/12 board meeting – All of the new uniforms made their Lakota debut at the 8/12 board meeting. Lakota featured this on their FB communication page. CLICK HERE and scroll down to see the posted picture, maybe add a “like.” The old uniforms were retired in shadow boxes as a gift to both Lakota West HS and the Central Office.

MACYS PAYMENTS — Please check all of your account balances in Charms and make payments promptly so that we can meet our payment schedule with Gateway. CLICK HERE for a guide on how to make payments directly in Charms so they will post faster and without requiring human intervention, the treasurer thanks you!
- Macy’s student/chaperone trip payment #8 ($100) is due 8/31.
- $750 of the trip balance should be paid by 8/31.
- Every MB student signed up for a room for the Macy’s trip, if your student is not attending, please contact Dave Bubash at parade@lakotawestbands.org and let him know by 8/21 so we can give the correct count to Gateway or we will be penalized financially.
- The followers bus will cost $130 per person and payment is now being collected. There are still seats available on the followers bus. CLICK HERE to sign up. You don’t have to purchase the followers package to ride the bus.
Due to the large number of travelers and money involved with Macy’s, the Upbeat club will be following Gateway’s cancellation policies concerning any cancelled trips (follower or student). The penalties will be incurred as follows for cancelling after the following dates: 7/22 (25% of total trip cost), 8/15 (50%), 9/19 (75%), 11/3 (100%). Trip insurance is available through Gateway. Freshman band registration – Freshmen need to get registered in Charms and buy their Tshirt for Freshman night 9/6 when they take the field with the Marching Firebirds and Tag Day 9/7. Please CLICK HERE to go to the web site and follow the 4 step process before school starts. It takes a week to get your account in Charms set up so please don’t procrastinate. Other than “freshman night,” freshmen do not march until their sophomore year. Freshman parents are encouraged to get involved with Tag Day. Upbeat Club Meeting: our first meeting is 8/20 at 7:30pm in the band room. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month. We are a parent volunteer group that supports all band activities. If you have a student in any band grades 7-12 you are a member. Come and learn more about what we do and how to get involved.
