Rookie Assessment, and Parent Meeting May 19 at 6:30pm
All new students joining the 2022 Lakota West Marching Band should plan to meet the Directors at the main campus band room on Thursday 5/19 at 6:30pm. Please enter through the back of the high school near the band trucks. An email was sent to all new families with more information, on May 11. If you did not receive it, members of the Upbeat Club will assist parents at this meeting, to be sure your account in Charms is set up properly.
While the students are being assessed with the directors, the Upbeat Club will share important information including the 2022 Handbook, Mini-Camp and Band Camp overview, Spiritwear, Ways to Stay Connected and more. Bring your questions!
Mini Band Camp May 23-26
2022 Mini Band Camp runs 1pm-9pm from Monday 5/23 through Thursday 5/26, and is held at the Freshman Campus.
Items to bring to EVERY rehearsal including Mini Camp:
- Flip Folder and pages
- Printed music (will be available in Charms)
- Hat and/or Sunglasses (optional)
- Thick cotton socks and sturdy athletic shoes
- Rain gear and/or large plastic bag for items brought to the field
- Coordinates (will be distributed at band camp)
- Packed dinner (or can be dropped off). Students not permitted to leave campus.
- 64oz Water Jug (labeled with student’s name)
The students will do a short family performance of what was learned during Mini-Camp. Please join us Thursday 5/26 at 8pm at the Freshman Stadium (Gym if weather indicates).
Upbeat Club Meeting May 26 at 6:30pm
Our Upbeat Club Meetings are for all band parents with students in grades 7-12. We hope to see some new faces! Note the different location due to Mini-Camp. The meeting will be held in the Freshman band room.
Note about parking at both the Freshman and Main Campus: Please only park in designated spots. Please do not create parking spots close to the field, near the band trucks, etc… We have a lot of student and equipment traffic in these areas and we need to keep the areas safe for all. Thank you for your help!
