Freshman Band Announcements – Oct. 1

For the week of October 1st

  1. Happy October, my favorite month of the year!
  2. Fall Freshman Band Concert is only 2 weeks away – Tuesday, October 16, 2012. The concert starts at 7:00 pm in the Freshman Auditorium. Report time for the students will be 6:20 pm. 1st period band will report to the band room for warm/tune-up. 2nd period band will report to the cafeteria for warm/tune-up. Concert attire for the evening is: white tops (blouse for girls, dress shirt for boys-can be long or short sleeve), long tie for boys (if you don’t have a long tie, Mr. Chumley can loan you one, just ask), black bottoms (pants or skirts) for everyone. Pants should be long (no Capri-pants) and girls should wear skirts that are long enough so that they do not have to alter how they sit when they play.
  3. This is Cedar Point week for the Marching Band. Marching band rehearsal for this week is Thursday AFTER SCHOOL. Please note this change. Due to the Ricky Skaggs concert on Thursday night, marching band will be from 3-5:00 pm. Only those band aids going on the Cedar Point trip should come to rehearsal this week. Students can either ride the activity bus from the Freshman school after school on Thursday, or, they should brought to Main Campus to rehearse at 4:00 pm. Rehearsal will be done promptly at 5:00. We are leaving Lakota West on Friday, Oct 5 at 6:30 pm. Students should eat dinner before they leave. They CAN bring snacks on the buses (we are traveling via Croswell Coach buses, not school buses). This is a non-stop trip, about 4 hours. There is a suggested packing list on the band website along with a suggested amount of money the students should bring with them for the trip. The entire Itinerary for this weekend is available on the band website, www.lakotawestbands.org. Please review this.
  4. Country music star Ricky Skaggs will be performing a benefit concert on Thursday evening, Oct 4, beginning at 7:30 pm at the Princeton Road Church of God on the corner of Millikin Road and Rt 747. Ricky Skaggs is the first cousin of Mrs. Snyder. This performance is being held to benefit the Hope House Mission in Middletown, OH where Mrs. Snyder works. Tickets can be purchased on line via the band website. Ricky is a 14-time Grammy Award winner and whether or not you are a fan of country music, we urge you to come out and hear this wonderful performer and help out the Hope House.

As always, any questions, please contact Mr. Chumley, Phillip.Chumley@lakotaonline.com.

Thanks
